Inhaler Dublin - Open wide tour

Written By Anisa Bhana.

Following the brand new third studio album of the riveting and compelling Irish band, Inhaler, they have taken the indie scene by storm, as they have begun their incessant world-wide ‘Open Wide’ tour which kick-started in the UK with an immediate great response with sold out shows across the country, which has followed to the US, Europe and has yet to come to Australia, New Zealand and Asia with many festivals all over to follow this year.

The rising band Inhaler are quintessentially becoming a majorly influential and popular Indie-band as their fan base continues to grow worldwide. Following their successful first two studio albums ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’ and ‘Cuts & Bruises’ that aided them in building their name, is their brand new ‘Open Wide’. Whilst this album isn’t substantially likewise to their others, with a more heavy rock sound, it is definitely exciting for fans to see the band transgress and explore new genres as they begin navigate and find their sound which is evidently prominent with a clear remnant of a pop influence in the lead singles ‘A Question of You’ and ‘Your House’. Inhaler continue to impress and amaze with each carefully crafted piece of work that they release as their talents and strives effortlessly exude and float within the album and one can only hope that their clear endeavours receive the praise that they deserve.

Based on a first listen, my top 3 favourite tracks on the massively compelling album immediately were ‘Even Though’ ‘All I Got Is You’ and ‘X-ray’. Personally, these tracks sound reminiscent as vestiges of the sound almost appear as if they pay homage to older songs such as ‘Now You Got Me’, however these tracks prove their new album to be some of their best work yet as they are arguably reviving the indie-rock genre whilst also introducing a younger audience and generation to this genre. Lead singer Elijah Hewson’s impeccable vocals on these astounding tracks are audibly raw, fluent and easily flow with an overwhelming amount of emotion whilst the drummer, Ryan Mcmahon, bassist, Robert Keating and lead guitarist Josh Jenkinson are devoid of any flaw as their ease and professionalism perceivably can be found in their new tracks. Furthermore, their unique sound continues to be captivating and engrossing as I myself have had this album on repeat since It’s release. As someone who has been a long-time fan of the band, it is truly enlightening and elating to see the band have their successes and draw in new support.

As for the tour, I attended the opening night in Leeds on February 7th and I can confidently say that it ‘cured my February blues’ as said in ‘Cheer Up Baby’ as I was most definitely blown away by the crowds reception to the performance they gave which begun with their hit song ‘My Honest Face’ which immediately got the crowd hyped up with an incredible atmosphere in the immensely packed room at the O2 Academy . Alongside Inhaler as the main act of the night, It is worth a notable mention that the openers ‘The Guest List’ and ‘Gurriers’ put on an astonishing performance and have now weaved their way into my playlists.

Finally, as i’m sure all fans of Inhaler are, I am excited with anticipation to see what else the band produce and have in store for fans. As for me, I have a couple more Inhaler shows to attend which gives me a lot to look forward to as we can expect the setlist to change frequently.

If you made it this far into reading, thank you. This is my first piece of work so I am very open to constructive criticism to help me improve and I hope and intend to write more!
